An award-winning photographer from Sherford is celebrating yet another major win.

Martyn Norsworthy, of Norsworthy Photography, has gained first place in the weddings category of the 2008 PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris International "Peoples Choice" Competition.

Martyn, who lives in West Alvington, had already received two "Honourable Mentions" for his work after the final judging in April; however all of the finalists work then gets put through to the "Peoples Choice" round where members of the public from all around the world get their chance to vote for their favourite images.

The competition is fierce, tens of thousands of entries are received every year for the PX3, the final selection is wittered down to under 1,000 and is judged by a strict panel of international gallery owners and picture editors.

Each category has a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as "Honourable Mentions"; these are entries where the judges feel the image is of outstanding quality and creativeness.

Martyn's winning image is entitled 'Thoughtful Bride', and is a stunning shot of a bride standing on a local beach gazing out to sea.

Martyn set up his photography business only two years ago, and last year won a UK competition as well as receiving three "Honourable Mentions" in the 2007 PX-3.

He is an active member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, as well as supplying many images to national and regional magazines.

Martyn, who studied photography 15 years ago at Plymouth College of Art and Design, has a studio in Sherford.
